Overview

With this aim, the laboratory has trained over 20 sensory panellists (expert food tasters) and 6 sensory analysts and scientists. It has also provided hands on sensory experience for over 40 students in various food related departments at the University of Ghana through student projects and internships. The laboratory carries out academic research into sensory methods development and food products evaluation and provides sensory testing service to various food companies in Ghana.
The laboratory comprises of an office, sample preparation area, discussion and booth areas in compliance with ISO guidelines and provides in-lab and central location testing services for all the major categories of sensory methods, consultation services, trainings and statistical analysis of sensory data.

To train students in the field of sensory and consumer science research and provide quality, clean, and reliable sensory data for research and commercial purposes.

To be the leading sensory and consumer science research laboratory in Ghana and West Africa, providing a benchmark standard by which other sensory laboratories are built to match.
