The symposium, organized by Elsevier and supported by the Journal of Food Quality and Preference starts on August 9 and ends on August 12. It will be held as a virtual conference and would have renowned scientists like Mei Peng. Jayson Lusk, Mukani Moyo and Carlos Gomes Corona making presentations on relevant topics in the world of sensory and consumer science.
The African Network for Sensory Evaluation Research (ANSWER) was inaugurated in 2019 at the 13th Pangborn Sensory Science symposium at the Edinburg International Convention center, Scotland. They act as a network of scientists that provides answers to questions or problems the African continent faces in all areas of sensory science and consumer research. ANSWER aims to build capacity in sensory science in Africa by providing information on how to conduct robust sensory and consumer tests and also provide support for upcoming researchers. It liaises with the global community of researches for financial and technical support and explores the applications of sensory science in both the food industry and the non-food industry.
The workshop to be held at this year’s Pangborn Symposium is themed: “Consumer sensory research in Africa: the Africa country profile project”. It is scheduled for 10th August at 15:15 GMT – 16:15 GMT. The session’s workshop will be chaired by Dr. Maame Yaakwaah Blay Adjei and Dr. Abadi Mezgebe.
